Backup Emergency Communications during Local Disasters

  • In times of crisis, usual communication lines and systems may be rendered useless and fail, become overloaded or inadequate when first responders need them the most.
  • That is why we at Northern AZ Backup Response (N.A.B.R.) have made it our mission to bridge the potential communication gap and support those on the front lines of emergency response with our ham radios.

Who We Are:

N.A.B.R. is a 501 (c) 3 Nonprofit Volunteer Organization with a tax-exempt status. We aim to provide invaluable backup emergency communications for Mohave County, Az. Tr-Cities Areas. Our group consists of Professional Amateur (Ham) Radio operators licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

What We Do:

We use our Amateur ham radio equipment, training and knowledge to help keep critical communications open during natural and man-made disasters. Whether it's a severe weather event, a power outage, or any situation where conventional communication systems fail, or become degraded or overloaded and may falter, N.A.B.R. is ready to step in to assist. We will strive to ensure that the help of emergency medical services, police & fire departments, hospitals, county and state emergency management & public health and other emergency first responders are always within reach and communications can continue.

Monthly Meeting

NABR invites anyone who is interested to attend our monthly meeting. You can meet the team and learn what we are about and what we have coming up in the future. You do not need to have a FCC Amateur Radio License to attend the meetings. When: 2nd Monday of each Month Time: 1800 Hrs (6:00 pm) to 1900 Hrs (7:00pm) Location: 4395 N. Bank St., Kingman, AZ 86409, (The classroom is located behind the Bank Street Grinder Deli - end of the building. You cannot miss it). Bank Street Grinder has great sandwiches.

Monthly Net Check-In:

  • NABR would like to invite you to join us each month and check into our group net. Everyone is welcome.
  • When: 4th Monday of each month
  • Time: 1930 Hrs. (7:30pm)
  • Frequency: 145.490, Negative (-) Offset, PL Tone 131.8
